The media has extensively reported the coming together of the Bachchan and the Kapoor families. After a long courtship, Amitabh`s son Abhishek has been engaged to Randhir`s daughter Karisma, and that bit of news continues to find a mention in some media snippet or the other quite regularly. Now, what we have also heard is that the two lovers will get married on Valentine`s Day which is, just in case you forgot, February 14 next year.

Over to the careers of the twosome. Abhishek has had hazaar releases, but his career hasn`t taken off. In fact, he has been seen most prominently in a Maruti Versa ad which the telly viewer suffers for free every day. Karisma`s career graph too has registered a downward swing, and while nobody doubts her capability, the limelight these days is on her sister Kareena. Despite Karisma`s temporary low, many believe that she will be the good luck charm for Abhishek once they get married. Why? Because Abhishek`s papa Amitabh too had a fairly ordinary run till he married Jaya Bhaduri. That marriage brought about a dramatic change in his fortunes, and he ended up becoming the biggest superstar that the Indian film industry has ever produced.

Whether or not Karisma will do the same remains to be seen. But what we must mention in this context what an anchor of a film-based show had to say. She did not deny that Jaya played a special role in Amitabh`s life, but went on to add: "Those who say that Karisma will do the same need to remember is that one can be a good luck charm for a person only if the latter has talent!" The statement sounds funny, but we do believe that Abhishek will do well sooner or later because he is a good actor who has done some bad films at the outset of his career. Period.
